Week 2 started with going to the doctor's office on Friday for our 1 week weight check. This was my and Wells' 1st time leaving the house since we got home from the hospital and every time we are leaving the house we get dressed up in one of our sweet outfits in the closet. I love the little embroidered trains and the collar on this day gown.
We had a little scare from attempting fingernail cutting right after we got home from the hospital, so we decided to let them be. He tends to only get a small scratch here and there but it's worse when he gets in the car seat so the mittens go on then!
We weren't supposed to see the doctor but my Pediatrician is awesome and came by to chat and check on us for a little while anyway. After a couple of breastfeeding confusing days, I had no idea how the weight check would go, but my big boy was back up to his birth weight exactly! 9 pounds 2 ounces once again.
He did great at the doctor appointment and we felt great after talking to the nurse about everything. She said his belly button stub wasn't close to coming off so be patient and continue with sponge baths. Because breastfeeding was going so well and he was already back up to his birth weight, they said we don't have to come back until he is 1 month old!
This week was full of a lot of firsts.... Saturday we took our 1st road trip (only an hour and a half drive) to the Camp House. It felt great to get out of the house and have a change in scenery, but packing for just 1 night is kinda humorous now that we have a baby. We tried out the Baby Bjorn for the 1st time and took Wells for a ride around the property on the Bad Boy Buggy.
He slept the entire time and didn't seem to mind the bumps or the heat one bit. We did a lot of relaxing and outfit changing.
We relaxed both inside and out on the porch...
Sunday, on our way back home, we had our 1st trip to a restaurant... at a small town country buffet! He didn't make a peep.
Harper ALWAYS wants to be next to Wells
He found his thumb one day... I wish he would find it again but I think it was a fluke
He wore a precious bubble for the 1st time on Wednesday, the day that Momma drove him to Mobile for the 1st time by herself and went to lunch with Mimi and Nat & babies (we should have taken a picture of the lunch table and us adults being outnumbered by all the kiddos).
Wells had his 1st babysitter... sorta. After lunch, Mimi kept Wells in the waiting room while I saw the dermatologist (apparently having some kind of allergic reaction, when I am not aware of anything I'm allergic too. fun fun).
We also tried tummy time and "played" on the play mat for the 1st time!
Yep, before we knew it, we turned 2 weeks old! Time is FLYING by!
Age: 2 weeks old
Likes: laying on his tummy, being held, eating, being awake more!
Dislikes: bath time, getting put to bed, being swaddled (a big thing we figured out this week... he would spend so much time fighting the swaddle that I tried just a blanket one night that he slept SO much better... he hasn't been swaddled since)
Eating: Still breastfeeding every 3 hours during the day. Everything is going much more smoothly: less discomfort, and he is much more consistent from side to side, just eats for less time total.
Sleeping: There are nights here and there (especially the night we spent at the Camp) that he just doesn't want to go down to sleep and is very fussy, but once we finally get that 1st sleep down, he does well throughout the rest of the night and wakes up hungry about every 3-4 hours. The 1st night we didn't wake him up to feed him, he slept from 10:15pm-4:45am! I was happy with that.
Diapers: size 1- and boy do we fly through them! probably almost 10 diapers/day
Clothes: I've sadly put aside some of his newborn clothes that just wouldn't fit anymore; only a few cotton sleep sacks and Feltman day gowns left that work. Otherwise he is completely in 0-3 month clothes and even the 0-3 month white Gerber onesie is very snug!
