hands full

we've got 2 this week
they are so precious
they hopped in the kennel together on their own will
have so much fun together
love each other like brothers
probably because they are half-brothers
definitely keep each other entertained
chase and wrestle each other more than steele probably wants to
and have only gotten TOO mischievous ONCE so far
when "they" decided to dig to china
moving all extraneous azalea bushes, pinestraw, and dirt out of their way in the process
and by "they" i mean mainly harper with some 'possible' help from steele
but we are definitely still enjoying ourselves

Mullet Toss '09

We have had this past weekend on the calendar for probably 365 days. Last year (that post is here) our friends Brian (Register) and Gracie came to the beach with us for Mullet Toss weekend down at the Florabama. We had such a fun time that we decided we would make it a yearly tradition! This year, our friends Austin and Stephanie Bradford joined us, too.
.
Friday we headed by boat to Tacky Jacks for an always good and fattening lunch.
ben & i
Register & GracieAustin & StephAfter lunch we headed out into the Gulf casually fishing along the beach. The girls just laid out in the sun on the front with drinks in hand claiming that we surely wouldn't catch any fish but would let the boys have a good time trying. Next thing we knew there was a fish on the line! After much excitement, lack of a fighting chair or gut bucket, Austin caught the big ole Jack Crevaille and we all celebrated our success and headed in! The pool was an incredible reward at the end of the day and this is where I plan on spending my entire summer!
Friday night we all 6 went to dinner at COSMOS. This was actually the first time I had been there, but I had always heard great things about it. Oh my were they right... Saturday was our big day on the beach at the Florabama! We hauled all of our gear over on the boat, found a spot to park our stuff, and just enjoyed the beautiful day in the sun and in the water. We mozied over to the actual Mullet Tossing and into the Florabama only once but that's not necessarily the point of the day... it's the PEOPLE WATCHING!
After a cookout at the house Saturday night, and lunch at LuLu's on Sunday, our weekend was definitely complete. Lots of food, lots of fun, with great friends, and lots of sun!

Happy Hoppy Easter

We had a great Easter this year. Pretty laid back and uneventful, actually. Thursday, Ben and I headed to the Farm because he had Good Friday off work. Natalie and Bennett joined us for the night and we just cooked some tacos for dinner and watched movies. Friday we headed back south, and went straight to Ben's beach house to spend the night and have dinner/Easter celebration with Ben's entire family. We had a good time all together, but unfortunately, my camera doesn't come out as much when we are with that side of the family (1-a family of boys 2-no babies).
.
Saturday morning we headed back home from the beach, unpacked, repacked, showered, and headed over to my parents house to do the same spend the night and have dinner/Easter celebration with my entire family. We started out with some wine and appetizers of grilled oysters and sausage outside on the patio:
the Easter bunny brought Bennett some rain/mud boots/galoshes! just like daddy's boots!tying little man's shoes
too bad B is more interested in his belly button than taking pictures... half my pictures of the night were of his shirt pulled up and belly showing!
"ride a little horsey down to town"
mean ole DOC pulled his pants up like a nerdSunday, we went to church with the family and the a yummy lunch at Zea's!! After lunch Ben and I went and visited with his grandparents (who recently moved to Mobile, YAY) and wished them a Happy Easter, as well! We hope that all of you had a wonderful, blessed weekend. HE IS RISEN!!!
.
Harper says "HAPPY EASTER!!!" AND he says "momma get these stupid bunny ears off me, I'm a dog, and I can't see!"

The B-Man

During my "time off" I have been offering my services to babysit Bennett whenever Nat needs me to. This has been several Wednesday mornings in a row lately, while she does her Junior League rotation, and I love the time I get to spend with Bennett. We usually spend our 4 hours outside swinging, walking around, and playing with random things inside. It's amazing to me how much he changes and grows each week and is doing or saying new things. My absolutely new favorite is that now when we say "where's Erin" he points at ME! Melts my heart! Now if I can just get him to SAY my name! I take new pictures of him every chance I get, so here are a few I haven't posted from the last couple of times I've seen him!
harper came with me this day, and bennett plopped himself down right with the dogs, which surprised me... then started DYING out laughing at the dogs playingand then decided to join in on the fun! what a sweet boy giving harper a hug!
his favorite!

Dear Beloved Kennel

You served us well for about a year now,
Harper loved you dearly and slept in you every night,
we never intended to let you go,
but Ben accidentally left the tailgate of his truck open,
and you disappeared from our lives forever.
.
We don't know where you are now,
we retraced our drive and didn't find you on the side of the road,
not in one piece, and not in little pieces,
we hope you didn't get hit by a car or cause  a wreck,
we are assuming someone picked you up and gave you a new home.
.
Either way, we are just glad Harper wasn't inside you when you went sliding out the back of the truck and into the road.
.
Harper did enjoy his adventure sleeping in our shower that night though, until we could go to PetSmart and buy your identical twin.

.
We will miss you, and wish you well.
Love, Erin, Ben, and your past inhabitant Harper
