Merry Christmas y'all

We wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!  I loved our Christmas card this year- mainly because of Wells being on it and also because I decided to use lots of pictures instead of being indecisive and taking forever to find just ONE perfect picture.  He is perfect in every single one.

This time last year we were announcing our exciting news to our immediate families about being 7 weeks pregnant with what we later found out was an amazing little BOY.  I will never forget what a difference a year can make!  I have never felt so blessed and can't believe I have the new honor of being a mommy.  Blessings to your family this Holiday season :)

the most wonderful time of year

I have a whole new vantage point on the approaching Christmas Holidays and celebrations now that I'm a mommy.  Everything I am thinking about is for Wells's perspective and it is so fun doing all these "firsts" with him.  Every year Ben & I have waited way too long to buy our Christmas tree but this year we went the Sunday after Thanksgiving to get a jump start on the decorating!
I got him several Christmas outfits from a consignment sale earlier in the year so I figured this would be the perfect day to start wearing them!  Love the nativity scene bubble!
About a week later we finally got the tree and entire house decorated
Wells wore his first set of Christmas jammies
How cute is that tushie! ?
Natalie's 3 babies having matching jammies to these, but we haven't gotten a picture of them all together yet....
and fun friend Matt bought Wells this awesome outfit :)

We took Wells to meet Santa with Amy & Leigh and Ben's parents earlier in the month at the Country Club's Breakfast with Santa morning.  Wells was picture perfect
he and Santa hung out while we tried to convince Leigh to get in the picture too
But Leigh refused (along with many other children we saw respond the same way)
But the photo op was awesome and breakfast was great too!
Wells was wearing the same day gown that Ben wore for his 1st Christmas and Ben's mom brought me a picture of Ben wearing it to compare.  I was too lazy to scan the picture in so here's a picture of a picture of Ben (left) side by side comparison to Wells (right)
This makes it easier to see that their features are very similar but Wells does NOT have his daddy's oval face shape- his is more rounded like mine.

Later that day we did a Christmas card photo shoot at home and got some awesome pictures.  Here are a few of the Santa Baby outtakes!!
We can't wait for the continuation of all the fun celebrations that are soon to come right around the corner!
It's the MOST wonderful time of the year!!!

Wells' Birth Announcement

Wells' birth announcements made it in the mail back in October and I am finally blogging about it.  I love how they turned out after spending way too long working on them and being indecisive.
I ended up using a Shutterfly design after attempting to design my own for a long time and not getting the result I wanted and realizing that it wasn't going to be any cheaper that way!

The pictures I was deciding between were all from a photo shoot that we did when Wells was 3.5 weeks old.  Amy already had the photo shoot scheduled for pictures of Leigh by Janie Long Photography and invited us to come along and get some of Wells, too.  They are so precious!
I won another photo shoot with this same photographer from a fundraiser silent auction that Ben & I went to recently... so I think we will get her to take some more pictures of Wells in the spring/summer between 9 months and 1 year old.

4 MONTHS

It's no secret I've been a bad blogger lately.  Honestly, going back to work and juggling all the baby care, household duties, sleep, etc at the same time has taken some getting used to.  I may only have to go into my office once a week, but getting 16 hours of work done from home the rest of the week makes it my priority over doing fun things like going out to lunch, running errands, or blogging (or reading other people's blogs).  I promise to try and do better.

I am however absolutely loving all that baby care entails.  Wells is such an amazing little boy and here are some pictures from his 4th month!
I LOVE long eyelashes!
Wells went with me to vote in the Presidential election!
We went to the Camp one weekend at the beginning of the month
This scene is just heavenly
We worked very hard on our rolling over skills- this particular day he was a rolling pro!
We starting planning Wells's Baptism and picked out lace for his Baptism gown... sneak peek.. I can't wait to see the finished product:
We celebrated our 5 year anniversary (earlier post) and loved having this addition to our little family
Rachie & Hollis came to visit when they came in town for Thanksgiving
and brought Wells this incredibly special blanket made for him
Ben cooked a pre-thanksgiving feast for just us (to test out his turkey recipes) and I broke out all of my china, silver, and crystal for the 1st time since we received it all 5 years ago as wedding gifts!
Then we celebrated Thanksgiving with our families (as covered in the last post)
Bennett is so good with Wells and picked him up off the bed and said "AuniE I think Superman is Wells's favorite superhero!"
We rediscovered the magic of the bouncy seat- he lived in this thing when he was 1st born, but then got too squirmy for it and like his playmat better... but I tried it again one fussy day and he immediately fell asleep in it!
He still loves his baths
and playing with Sophie
We went to the Doctor for his 4 month checkup!!
and had our monthly photo session with mommy
He is SO handsome
Age: 4 months old
Weight: 14 pounds 13 ounces (50%)
Height:  26.25 inches (90%)
Head:  41.25 cm (30%)
Likes: putting everything in his mouth, rolling tummy to back, the mobile over his crib, sitting up or standing in your lap instead of cradle hold, playing with his feet, "talking," his paci
Dislikes: tummy time, burping (or the process of being burped while eating), when the paci falls out (even though the majority of the time it's because he pulled it out himself)
Eating:  Breastfeeding: every 2.5-3.5 hours during the day, with first feeding 7-8am and last feeding 8-8:30 pm... each feeding lasts from 5-8 minutes total for both sides.  (same breastfeeding schedule but he had a rough week of not eating well, and then goes back to normal again)
Sleeping:  usually asleep by 9pm and gets up around 7-8am... pretty consistently sleeps through the night and if he wakes up in the middle of the night I can usually give him his paci and he will fall back asleep instead of needing to eat
Diapers: Size 2 Pampers- we moved up this month (nighttime diapers too)
Clothes: still can fit in 3 month dressy clothes/bubbles and 6-9 month cotton/play clothes/pajamas
Other things to mention from this month:
  • Rolling over tummy to back consistently, but we don't try it very often
  • Has only rolled from his back to his side once, but doesn't seem to be flipping over that way any time soon
  • Pulls everything to his mouth now (blankets, toys) so I have to make sure blankets are tucked in around him in the car seat/swing and I don't let him have one at all during his nap
  • Still sits in Bumbo seat well but doesn't like it for very long
  • Always chewing on his hands and drooling
  • Became enamored with this musical mobile that Natalie let us use and we sometimes put it on the crib for nap time which he seems to love
  • We moved to size 2 diapers, which were quite big at first but definitely the right size for him now.
  • Laughs a lot more and smiles "on demand"  (when we say "smile for momma" or something like that)
  • Babbling and "talking" constantly, especially right after he eats and makes an inhaling ooh sound
  • Has very strong legs and can stand up for short spurts unassisted
  • Grabs his feet on his changing table now- one in each hand
  • He started having a "new" and different cry this month- almost like he's squealing at you on purpose
  • Had a crazy blowout diaper in his car seat while we were at Babies R Us one day and I had to clean him, change his clothes, clean his car seat, and feed him at the store...lots of tears that day (him not me) whew mommyhood!
  • Wells has slept through church every Sunday we have gone- so he hasn't had to try out the Nursery at church yet
We love him more and more every single day!!!
