Mullet Toss

This weekend was our first REAL beach weekend! Finally, it was nice and hot! Ben's pledge brother and good friend, Brian Register, and his girlfriend, Gracie, who are both from Jacksonville came to visit! Friday we rode the boat to LuLu's for lunch. I am quite embarrassed at the amount of food we all consumed. With appetizers, and multiple baskets for all 4 of our lunch food we have a disgusting amount of food on the table, but it was quite good!

Friday night we rode the boat to Tacky Jacks for dinner. The boat was having some difficulties all weekend, and shortly after we left Tacky Jacks, she died. I mean, not just motor sputtering died, but radio cuts off, all battery power lost, dead as a doornail died. I started to call my dad to come tow us home, even thought it was 11:30pm, but just as the phone rang for the 3rd time, the boys finally got the boat to start. We nearly idled the entire way home, but made it!
.
Saturday was the famous MULLET TOSS at the FloraBama. Actually, neither Ben nor I had ever been. I grew up watching the long lines of cars and people walking down the highway to get there, but never tried to brave the crowds. We managed to go by boat this year and squeezed ourselves between 2 other boats on the shore and walked on over. O the seas and seas of people there were. I think I saw all of maybe 1 mullet get tossed before we walked down the beach a ways to find a spot to lay out and sit down. Gracie and I laid out most of the day while the boys walked back and forth getting drinks and bringing them back to us, attempting to smoke cigars (GROSS) but the wind was blowing too much, and then swimming in the Gulf. It was a beautiful day and we had alot of fun (and got ALOT of sun)!!

Harper was waiting patiently for us back at the house. We took him for a swim at the house, which he enjoyed quite a bit! Can't wait for more fun weekends at the beach this summer!

hey hey

...Multiple new posts below...
since no one else in the blogging world has been posting much lately, I figured I'd give you readers plenty to read. haha

Homegrown Roses Galore

4 Months Old

Harper turned 4 months old today. I can't believe how big he's gotten already (don't I sound like all you mommy's out there who have real human babies? haha)! At his Vet appointment last week, he weighed a good 32 pounds (compare that to almost 4 month old Bennett, and Harper is pretty huge!). Although he's definitely acting like a puppy, he looks more like an adolescent/preteen now. Look how BIG he is!?! Not quite as easy to pickup and hold anymore, but still so lovable and sweet! Such a good boy he is!

Destruction

Oh boy do we have a monster on our hands... he really is an angel most of the time, but look what this boy is capable when you leave him outside alone all day fenced in in all sides... I think he's already reached the TERRIBLE TWOS (Ben says in dog years he IS 2.3 years old already.. yep)...
AZALEA BUSH BEFOREAZALEA BUSH AFTER
OUR BACK DOOR NOW
OUR TREE BEFORE
(its our newly sprouting tree in the back yard... it has a stake in it, keeping it growing straight up, and look at all the beautiful leaves growing on it... )
OUR TREE AFTER
(yep discovered this yesterday.. stake on the ground.. completely demolished.. leaves all over the place.. shredded trunk)

Harassed

Ugh, today I had a horrible and disgusting experience happen to me. For those of you who don't know, I am a pharmaceutical sales rep and travel all over the place talking to doctors and dropping off samples. I have never had anything like what happened today happen to me, ever...
.
Let me preface today's situation with my past experiences on separate occasions with this doctor, who will remain anonymous (and is obese, might I add.. how can you trust a doctor who is obese? that's a whole 'nother issue.. anyway):
.
1. looked, talked, and acted drunk or high
2. was asleep in his office between seeing patients when his nurse told me to knock on his door and go in
3. told me he wasn't hitting on me, but that I had "beautiful round INDIAN cheeks" (what in the world does that mean?)
.
and then today... I can't go into details because it is too obscene and disgusting to type on here, but here is the gist of the conversation he had with me (not a 2way conversation... I the entire time was figuring out how to run and get out of his office and the uncomfortable situation I was in):
.
1. talked about how he was mad at the hospital and didn't care if they took him off staff for saying so
2. talked incredibly inappropriately about sexual matters
3. made crude comments about his massage chair
4. made political jokes and asked me who i was voting for
5. played a forwarded email for me, that was a phone conversation about a woman and man cheating on each other, full of cussing and crude subject matter
6. way more, more, more uncomfortable and inappropriate comments
.
Numbers 2, 3, and 5 were the WORST!
.
I just don't get it... how is this man a doctor? Why would any human being think that it is in any way appropriate or humorous to address any number of these things, or say such inappropriate jokes and comments and stories... to a complete stranger? to a lady? to someone in a professional, working environment? to ANYONE, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE?
.
As much as I wanted to just walk out of the room or tell him how inappropriate he was being the entire time, I just didn't know how to approach it. I was in his office with the door closed (which never should have been the case, but was). When he started these rants, I responded to each of them with either "no comment," stopped laughing and let him know I was not OK with the convo, told him "i never should have asked" about the noise in the room (massage chair), and told him 'that's disgusting," and "you are on a roll, I should go." I mean, he was EXTREMELY inappropriate and out of line (AKA bordering on sexual harassment). I feel like I need to take a shower just having gone through that. GROSS. Needless to say, I will NEVER go see this doctor again. I wish there were some way you could anonymously report this... something needs to be done.

LOST

OK, we have a new addiction... LOST! 2 Sunday nights ago, Ben and I wanted to watch a movie (one of our new favorite things to do on Sunday afternoons!). We (or should I say, Ben) has an extensive movie collection, most of which I have never seen. So I had him pick out a movie he would be WILLING to watch again.... anyway, he suggested we watch LOST.... not exactly a movie, and not a TV show I have ever picked up watching, or even seen a single episode of. I think his parents or brother gave the first season to him for Christmas... I didn't even know we had it. so I agreed we would watch the first episode and see how it was.......
.
30 episodes later... we OBVIOUSLY got HOOKED!!!!!!! In less than a week, we watched all 24 episodes of Season 1. Sunday, we picked up Season 2 from Ben's Mom (who has recently picked up the addiction too). We are now on disc 2 of Season 2 and continue to be hooked and intrigued. I have to say it is unlike any other TV show we, or I, watch..... and I watch a WHOLE lot of TV shows...reality shows or otherwise. There is an unexpected element of suspense and mystery and surprise. Ben is NOT a fan of any of those 3 descriptive words. So, when the scary music starts, Ben is behind a blanket, and I start narrating. It's kinda funny, and cute... but we won't stop watching it.
.
I don't know if any of you bloggers watch the show... but don't tell me anything past the beginning of season 2. I know season 4 is airing on ABC right now, so any time I'm watching ABC and a commercial comes on for it, I start making loud noises and turn my head until I can fumble with the remote to change the channel until it's over. Can't wait to see what happens next!

First Beach Weekend

I was so excited to finally be going down to the beach this weekend since it had started warming up. Despite my reluctance to the thought of wearing a bathing suit already, I packed it anyway and Ben, Harper, and I headed down to our family's Beach House. Momma and Daddy as well as Natalie, Stephen, Bennett, and Steele were already there when we arrived. Rachel and Hollis weren't able to make it due to KD Formal being Friday night, so they were greatly missed!

My dad's birthday is next Wed, April 16th, and it always seemed as though his birthday was a time of the year that things were always so busy or we were off to school and never really got to "celebrate" his birthdays. It's hard to get together on week nights these days, so this year we girls worked up a plan to surprise him. All of us were running around "getting ready" while daddy say on the couch thinking it was just another relaxing evening at home with momma cooking us dinner. Then at 6, we brought out the birthday gifts! It was really fun to surprise him, because we NEVER get anything past this man! He will guess any Christmas present before touching it, or just knows what is going on every step of the way because things are always planned. He said he hadn't even thought about his birthday coming up, so we definitely caught him off guard. Nat and Steve, Ben and I got Daddy a new grill to use on the new boat! It has a mount for it to stick into the rod holder and we can have a cookout while out fishing! Luckily, he loved it and I think we will ALL enjoy having it!

Then, we informed him that he needed to change his attire. "why?" he asked of course. Momma made sure he was correctly dressed as we all finished getting ready and then we were off! When we pulled up at the Villagio Restaurant at the Wharf he was definitely pleased. It is a really nice restaurant that momma and daddy have gone to several times and enjoy. So we all had a fun birthday dinner. Bennett chilled out in his car seat the whole time and was such a good boy! (the pics of all of us were on Momma's camera, so I'll have to get those from her).

When we got back to the house, the surprises continued with one of Momma's famous Carrot Cakes, candles, and a good ole round of "Happy Birthday to You!" Daddy of course was asking Momma, "when did you make this?" It was a fun night and such a joy to watch Daddy surprised by us for once! :) The rest of the weekend was quite relaxing, and there was no bathing suit due to the overcast/rainy day we had (thank goodness!). We even took the new boat out fishing... but the chilly winds turned it into a leisurely spin, not so much fishing involved. No More Kennel

Harper likes that he gets to play outside in the yard all day while we are at work, instead of being cooped up in his kennel....
LOOK at that happy face (and the dirt on his nose... wonder what he's been doing...)

Farm Day

This past weekend we had a wonderful time up at Ben's family's farm. Katie, Jody, Natalie, Stephen, Bennett, Steele, Ben, Harper, and I all loaded up (in 2 cars, not 1!) Friday afternoon and headed up there (about an hour North of Mobile outside Chatom, AL).
Friday night it was pouring down rain, but we still managed to cook some dinner on the grill... chicken, pork tenderloin, rolls, and a yummy vegetable dish Katie made! The puppies quite enjoyed their time playing in the rain, and jumping all over each other.
Harper knows a command to "get on your rug" when we want him to stay put. His rug is typically by the door in our house, where he hangs out in the house. Well, at the farm, he found his rug up on top of a crate on the porch and decided to climb up there where he thought he belonged. silly boy!
Saturday was SUCH the lazy day. The boys woke up at 5:15 AM to go turkey hunting, however it was still a bit drizzly. They ended up cooking us breakfast and THEN went hunting around 9. Us girls watched We Are Marshall and lounged around on the couch. After lunch the 3 boys and the dogs went fishing out on the lake. Harper even went swimming for the first time, but mommy missed it so, no pictures of that!
Then Natalie, Bennett, Katie, and I took a ride around the property on the Bad Boy Buggy. We circled the lake a few times and even saw a deer! Bennett, somehow, fell asleep during the last half of the rough ride. He had been awake and cranky all morning but then decided it was happy time and then nap time on the dirt roads. Who knows with babies!?!?

Beautiful Baby Blues!

Precious puppy feet!

It was such a great time at a beautiful and relaxing place with best friends and family. But I have to say, I'm ready for the Beach now!
