~A look at Wells' 12th month~
The day after Wells turned 11 months old, we headed to the beach for the 4th of July long weekend with Ben's family
The day of the 4th was really the only day that it didn't rain and we were able to play outside
Wells absolutely LOVED the slide and pool
We set off fireworks that night (Wells was already asleep or else they probably would have scared the bageezus out of him)
The next day it was pouring down rain so the ladies and babies went to the outlet mall and Wells rode the merry-go-round. I couldn't believe he could hold on by himself and really enjoyed it.
We just got SO tired of all the rain!
We found out how much Wells loved the push car at the beach and rode it up and down the boat dock and driveway. Real men drive pink cars.
This was his face when he saw Leigh walking up to him.
Grandmudder with 3 of her great-grandbabies
Before school one morning
I hear that you shouldn't keep baby locks on all the cabinets so they at least have one cabinet that they can play with- this is his and he likes to empty it pretty much every single day!
Love my t-shirt that mimi & doc brought back from Greece
Becoming SUCH a good eater this month
had to move up a size in jammies and looks like such a big boy now!
I started to wean Wells from breatfeeding a couple of weeks before his 1st Birthday and he handled it way too easily! Holding his bottle like a champ!
we went down to Ono one long weekend for a fun visit with the family- Emory & Wells got some 1on1 time with mimi& doc before the rest of the family came
might be gross but cracks me up that he licks the dried salt off the life jacket
lunch at Tacky Jack's
boat ride with mimi & doc after lunch
handsome boy
The next weekend, at the last minute, Ben & I went with friends Garrett & Holley to New Orleans on Friday night and Joslyn kept Wells back at home. We had a delicious dinner at Tommy's and night out
walking around the French Quarter and then Magazine Street before going home
haha- I really don't like clothing with word's and sayings and characters on them but cute footed, zipper jammies are getting harder and harder to find as he gets older and at least these had cute blue & white stripes!
wearing a john-john we got him in New Orleans- and showing how long his hair is getting!
He hadn't been in the Bumbo in months and was NOT a fan of being restrained
watching the yard guys one morning
EVERY time he's in a high chair (except for at home) he kicks his left foot up onto the table and we have to push it back down over and over again
1st time going to Sams- and 1st time wearing shorts other than a bathing suit (mommy wasn't ok with the big boy look) :(
playing in the grass while Daddy does yard work
sharing his food (usually with Harper)
on his last day of summer Mother's Day Out
Wells loves the Elmo app on my phone- Elmo calls and FaceTimes with him all the time.
His actual 12 month birthday was the day before his birthday party so he got to spend the day running errands with mommy! 1st time in the fun car cart at Publix and he was obsessed and tried to drive both steering wheels (Publix also gave him a balloon which he loved).
a quick trip to party city!
opening birthday presents back at home and of course enjoying the boxes the most
We went to Stix for his birthday dinner and sat at the Hibachi table where we got to watch them cook our dinner in front of us. We thought Wells would like it, and he did, except for the giant fireball that kinda scared him. After dinner he got his Cozy Coupe gift from us and LOVED it!
and August 2nd our little angel baby was officially 1 year old!
Age: 12 months old
Weight: 21 pounds 4 ounces ( 50% )
Height: 31.5 inches ( 80% )
Head: 46 cm ( 50% )
Likes: patty cake, waving, water (baths & swimming), being asked "where's your nose," Elmo or any other baby app on my phone, clapping, throwing balls, using his walker as a push cart that he climbs on, walks behind, and puts items in the seat
Dislikes: diaper changes (he won't sit still & has had constipation issues so he doesn't like #2), most fruits, juice, drinking out of the sippy cup (he likes to play with it and fill his mouth up and spit the liquid out but isn't such a fan of actually drinking liquids out of the cup)
Eating: still breastfeeding every 4 hours (8am, 12, 4, 7:30pm)... se below for weaning schedule. Eats table food breakfast, lunch, & dinner.
Sleeping: Goes to bed by 7:30pm and sleeps until 7:30-8am. Naps around 10am and 2pm (1-2 hours each)
Diapers: Size 3 Pampers cruisers & size 4 pampers nighttime diapers
Clothes: 9, 12, & 18 month dressy clothes/bubbles and 12-18 month cotton/play clothes/pajamas
Other things to mention from this month:
- Said his first real word toward the beginning of the month: "Hey!" We were at the beach and Natalie said "did Wells just say hey?" to which I assumed the answer was no. Then upon paying closer attention I realized that he was give a breathy quick "hey" sound in response to me saying hey to him or when looking at someone else. The rest of the month confirmed that he will intentionally "say hey" when you ask him to or just say it to him.
- Took his 1st real step observed by me on July 14th
- How I weaned him: (he was being breastfed 4x a day 8am, noon, 4pm, 7:30pm- I had stocked up enough milk in the freezer to supplement all of the dropped feedings from me): July 16th, dropped his noon feeding for a bottle & bfeed 3x day; July 20, dropped his 4pm feeding for a bottle 2x day & bfeed 2x day; July 26 started making his 2 bottles with 75% breastmilk & 25% whole milk; July 30, dropped bedtime feeding for bottle (3 bottles a day 50% breastmilk & 50% whole milk) & bfeed 1x day; August 2nd, his birthday, was his last morning breastfeeding ever and moved to 100% whole milk bottles after that
- He loves pulling all the books off the shelf, pulling all the toys out of the basket, pulling all the plastic cups out of the cabinet at the beach, pulling all the tupperware out of the cabinet at home, etc, etc, etc- but doesn't really care about playing with the items as much once they are out
- I had enough of near heart attacks looking at the monitor only to see him standing on the bumpers and looking to me like he could fall over the rail- but I knew that he liked to lay/sleep on his bumpers and they kept his pacis from falling out the rails; so, my solution was to remove his 3 nice fluffy custom made bumpers and left the one on the back since his crib is solid wood back and 3 sides of rails- I put up the breathable mesh bumpers on the 3 sides with rails- so far it serves its purpose of keeping him from climbing and preventing the pacis from falling out between the rails but it definitely doesn't look as cute and the mesh doesn't stay up very well so i have to readjust every time he gets done with a nap.
- July 30th, after days of low grade fevers (up to 101.6 one day), drooling, fussiness, and hands in the mouth, his Top Left tooth finally broke through!
- The day before his 1st Birthday he started walking without prompting or help- 6 or so steps!
- Favorite foods- turkey breakfast sausage, scrambled eggs, turkey hotdog, turkey, chicken, cheddar cheese sticks (not white string cheese), green beans (canned veggies), gold fish, these cheese snacks (no really he's OBSESSED with these), cheerios (except for when he decides he doesn't want them).
- He is generally long and lean, primarily right handed, has his daddy's legs, still has light brown hair (sometimes looks darker blonde and other times has a hint of auburn), has the most beautiful blue eyes and long eyelashes that many people comment on, a contagious smile and laugh, a pretty deep voice, and is just all around an angel baby
