MONTH 5

There were definitely a lot of big events that happened in Wells' 5th month, like those that I already documented: his Baptism, all of the Christmas celebrations, and New Years.  These are all the other things that we did in between that month!

Having lunch with Mimi
Mommy and Daddy had a date night to see Breaking Dawn part 2 while Memommy and Ganddaddy babysat
 We celebrated Adam's birthday
started playing with his feet more
half way rolling over on the play mat
belly laughs and giggles with daddy
Wells got his first cold.  We went to the doctor when it wasn't getting better and found out that he also had his first ear infection, and got prescribed his first pink medicine/antibiotic.  :( Poor buddy didn't feel so great and Mommy had a sinus infection at the same time.
Amazed when discovering the cup during his bath one night
Playing with cousins at Jacob's 1st Birthday play date
visiting with grandmother who was in town for Christmas Holidays
Bundled up at cousin Bennett's 5th Birthday party
Exploring new ways to play after getting so many fun Christmas presents
cuties
tried Rice Cereal for the 1st time
and did NOT like it
started sitting up assisted much better
and just kept growing up and being our precious angel baby
5 month photo shoot
Age: 5 months old
(we didn't have a checkup doctor's appointment this month, but was measured at his sick visit)
Weight: 15 pounds 11 ounces (50%)
Height:  26.75 inches (90%)
Head: ?
Likes: Pulling his paci out of his mouth, smiling in response to you smiling at him, talking/babbling, standing and sitting, throwing toys
Dislikes: when he can't get the paci back in his mouth, being sick, socks on his feet or blankets over his legs
Eating:  still breastfeeding: had been eating every 3 hours since he was born (8am, 11, 2, 5, 8pm), until New Years weekend when we moved to a new schedule of eating every 4 hours (8am, 12, 4, 7:30pm)- this is working MUCH better because now he will eat more at every feeding, doesn't get fussy in between, and he started napping longer between each feeding (about 8-9 minutes eating total)
Sleeping:  we moved our bedtime routing earlier so that he was usually asleep by 8pm and sleeps until anytime between 6 & 8am.  When he got sick, he stopped sleeping through the night as much and would wake up coughing or just miserable so there were a few nights of not sleeping very well.
Diapers: Size 2 Pampers (nighttime diapers too) but he's starting to grow out of them it seems from the number of blowouts he's had
Clothes: 6 month dressy clothes/bubbles and 6-9 month cotton/play clothes/pajamas
Other things to mention from this month:
  • Constantly pulls paci out and puts it back in
  • Rolls the top part of his body over when laying on his back but doesn't try to rotate his hips to roll all the way
  • Smiles when you ask him to or he sees you smiling
  • Squirmy on the changing table and will twist the top of his body to reach things on the table behind him
  • Can't be left unattended laying on his back anymore since he rotates and squirms
  • Started throwing toys out of the car seat
  • Completely was uninterested in rice cereal- wouldn't open his mouth or swallow any of it
  • Will kick his left sock off all the time
  • Doesn't like blankets over his legs at nap time or in the car seat anymore- kicks until it's off of him
  • Drools a lot whenever he is playing upright (in his exersaucer or door bouncer)
  • Is still such an angel baby!
We love you sweet love muffin!

Wells' 1st Christmas

The day after Wells' Baptism was Christmas Eve so we quickly switched over to Christmas celebration mode!!
We went to our Christmas Eve church service and then, for the 1st time since we got married, we went back home for dinner and to spend the night at our house.  Every other year we stayed at one of our parents' houses to be ready for Christmas celebrations with the family, but now that we have Wells we were ready to start new traditions!
I am so blessed to have these 2 amazing boys by my side, the most amazing way to spend this Christmas
Wells went to bed and Santa got to work.  Ben's family had a tradition of watching Christmas Vacation every year, while I, on the other hand, had never seen the movie all the way through (I know- quite a tragedy, I've heard....)  We had attempted it a few times over the 11 or so years of being together but I never stayed awake for the whole thing.  So, this year we finally watched it and I got all the way through!  Ben was pleased and I was laughing.
Christmas morning, we all slept in a little bit before getting ready for the day and finally going into the den to discover Santa's goodies!
Wells didn't really seem to know the difference at 5 months old, of course, so he mainly got things that he would need in the coming months as he develops and grows.  Next we loaded up the car went to my parent's house for the Setzler family gathering! What could be cuter than these 4 matching christmas jammied cousins attempting a group photo?  There were SO many funny outtakes! and Emory, being the only girl, was accessorized with a sparkly purple tutu.  haha
Thanks for my monkey hat Rachie & Hollis!
Lunch was absolutely amazingly delicious
Then we loaded up once more and headed over to Ben's parent's house for the Kennemer family Christmas celebration!
Wells is throwing up an "I love you" in sign language :)
The day was extremely jam packed with three different celebrations but we know we were blessed to be able to see all of our family and celebrate Jesus' Birthday!  Last Christmas we surprised our families by telling them that we were about 7 weeks pregnant with what we later found out was a little boy.  This year, having Wells here, happy, healthy, almost 5 months old, and a part of our family is all I needed to make me the luckiest girl in the world.  I hope that all of you had a very Merry Christmas!!!

The next weekend we joined Natalie and her family at the Hunting Camp for a long New Years celebration weekend full of yummy food, warm fires, movie watching, baby cousin playtime, hunting, deer spotting, fireworks, competitive card games, and lots of relaxing.
love these baby rolls
Pride & Prejudice (Nat made me watch it when she found out I'd never seen it... and it was gooood)
Riding the new Gator at the farm
  Redneck wine glass...
So that's my Holiday overview.  Happy New Years to all of you.  Let's have 2013 be the best one yet!!!
